Details
RoelandP found it very difficult to find and add friends from other social networks on Facebook. Therefore he created the recently launched FbFriendFinder.com, a service which makes finding and adding friends from other social networks on Facebook 'supereasy'. The webservice is a simple solution for Facebook users who face 'the social problem' of these days: having friends scattered accross multiple networks.
When visiting FbFriendFinder.com users are first asked to connect to the networks from which they want to find friends on Facebook. After having added one or more networks the user connects to Facebook and some sample friend results are displayed. After having paid a small amount of money the user has instant access to a clear interface which makes scrolling through possible friends 'supereasy'. Each potential friend can directly be send a friend request, with optional message, from within the application.
Adding new networks every day
The FbFriendFinder.com tool launched with support for 11 networks: BrightKite, Digg, Flickr, Foursquare, Imeem, Last.fm, LinkedIn, Livejournal, Mobypicture, Myspace and Twitter. Furthermore a plain-text inputfield makes it possible to add any friendlist through copy-and-pasting. New networks are added on a daily basis, and users can submit network requests through the support site or Twitter which will have priority treatment.
OAuth connections whenever possible
Most of the currently supported networks on FbFriendFinder.com offer the possibility to connect over OAuth. OAuth is an open protocol, initiated by Blaine Cook and Chris Messina, to allow secure API authorization in a standard method for desktop, mobile and web applications. OAuth allows a user to grant access to their information on one site, to another site, without sharing all of their identity. FbFriendFinder.com does not store information of the user or retrieved friends, except for an ID which is needed for the payment.
$5 dollars maximum and the 'cent-per-friend' payment method
Before being able to use the tool, users have to pay a small amount of money via Paypal checkout, which also supports most common credit- and debtcards. The 'cent-per-friend' calculation is based upon the amount of potential friends which the user wants to lookup on Facebook, divided by 100 dollarcents and ceiled. $5 dollar is the maximum price to pay (ex. $0.35 transaction fee). Paying customers also get a code, enabling them to use the tool over and over again without having to pay for access again.
